One of these days I plan to move the DenyHosts sync server to a 3rd party provider that can guarantee uptime (historically my uptime on my server has been excellent but considering a recent issue it's also obvious how fragile my connection can be-- single point of failure). Since I don't have the resources to provide a fault tolerant network it's probably a good idea to move it elsewhere. So with this goal in mind, I'm currently entertaining suggestions as to hosting providers that can provide the following:
- Linux based (preferably a Redhat derivative) - dedicated server -or- virtually dedicated (ie. no other users able to access my server space) - full admin access (aka root) - so I can install whatever I want! - ssh access - ability to run services (not just http) - MySQL server 5 or greater - Python 2.5 - Python MySQLdb - reasonably priced (preferably no bandwith charges since the DH user base keeps growing) - reliable If referring a hosting provider that meets the above specs, please email me privately so this list is spared the barrage of endorsements.
