Well, I removed the line. DH still crashed when it purged at 08:06 this 
morning, but did not crash at 09 10 or 11, and the crash at 8 was a connection 
refused crashed so I think it's all working… ish. I still only get hosts from 
the sync server:

 bzgrep 203.188.236.11 /var/log/secure.log.* | grep -i failed | wc -l
   12142

I see the IP listed in /etc/hosts.denyhosts but it doesn't seem to be stopping 
connection attempts.

 # cat /etc/hosts.allow 
ALL : /etc/hosts.denyhosts : deny
sshd : ALL : allow

This is on OS X 10.6.4.
