I have disabled sqlStandard mode (preventing use of Grant/Revoke) temporarily on trunk. Two (store) tests have been failing after my changes were checked in and I will re-enable this mode soon after I fix the problem. I have found the problem to be in GenericAuthorizer.usesSqlStandardPermissions() and I just need to commit a nested transaction.
