If nothing goes wrong this is just the startup and the shutdown message.
I agree with your overall point, and agree that the console should flush.
I just wanted to point out that I think the above is true only for 10.2 and
later releases; in 10.1 the console has a message ("Connection number 472")
on each new connection that is accepted.
I still don't think it's a performance problem, just wanted to point this
boring little detail out :)
