The list of functions is correct, thanks for checking. They are defined by the JDBC 3.0 specification, appendix C. Derby only supports a sub-set of the set defined by JDBC 3. It's incorrect to say any builtin function can be used in the JDBC escape syntax, that would be non-standard behaviour. I think the line in MOD should be removed, I guess it was meant to be at the end of the section, but it is not true.
