Yip Ng commented on DERBY-1686:
-------------------------------

Dan stated:

"From reading of the description I'm concerned that we are even collecting
providers at bind time, possibly doing a lot
of extra work for little benefit (still need to look at the code to see what is
meant by collecting the providers)."

The only reason I collect the providers at bind time instead of execution time
is because Derby is retrieving these
stored dependencies from SYSDEPENDS and I like to reduce the number of read
locks that get held at execution
time. If any of the providers are modified, then the dependency manager will
invalidate the view which will trigger
a recompilation of the statement. Do let me know if this approach is not worth
the effort or it is not valid.

> With authentication on, attempting to execute a GRANT privilege to 'user3'
> on a VIEW created by the 'user2' - who has only SELECT privilege
> on the base table created by 'user1' does not fail. This results in 'user3'
> getting access to the table created by 'user1' through the view.
> I remember a discussion on the list to raise an error when an attempt is
> execute a GRANT on the view, until WITH GRANT option is implemented.
