frameworks is at the top level of the code tree. You would need to check out
the whole code tree to get it, or check out the frameworks directory to a
separate directory. If you intend to generate a patch that includes changes to
the demo files and frameworks, it will probably be most expedient to go ahead
and check out the whole code tree:

I'm wondering how to put this or even if it is relevant to this issue
- but as a reminder - we decided we'll drop the frameworks dir with
the next release pulled off the trunk (presumably 10.3) in favor of
the bin directory.
