Believe it or not, after I submitted that last patch I ran through all the 
steps in the manual again and discovered some more errors (mostly output 
spacing, and one problem with step order). I will file a new issue for those. 
The diffs should be easier to deal with.

IIRC, the > occurs only in the PDF/monohtml output; the HTML prefaces the word 
"Important" to the note. Yes, let's check the new toolkit.
