Hello,
To me the latest errors you see seem to be due to an invalid Java installation. 


Can you verify that the different Java installations (Java 1.3, Java 1.4 
and possibly Java SE 6) are working?



I don't know anything about Eclipse, but do you have some kind of 
"platform manager" or somthing in there to manage the various Java 
installations?

             It is clear from the above error that the compiler is not 
finding java.lang classes.

    Hi,

    You can use ant (1.6.5 works well).
    Follow the instructions in BUILDING.txt at the top of the trunk.
