Currently, according to DERBY-4045, SELECT statements do not allow WHERE 
clauses in subqueries. This behavior may need to change, but in the meantime 
the documentation should reflect the current situation. The SELECT statement 
topic in the Reference Manual is rrefsqlj41360.dita.
