10.5 blocker DERBY-2127...anyone working on a fix?

Hi,

We still have a blocker issue -DERBY-2127- that will prevent me from
rolling another release candidate next week.
Rick made a repro. Is anyone working on a fix for this, and just
hasn't assigned the issue?
