I can't find an issue for this problem. I suppose it may have been
introduced by my changes, but it seems far away from the code I was
working with and I wrote it off as another timing problem in the network
tests. Let's see if it starts turning up in the continuous integration
runs. I have logged the issue as

I've probably missed something but, what do you mean with 'the network
ping problem'? Is there a JIRA for it?
