please ignore my previous question. The answer is that these are samples which
need to be replaced/overwritten with the real path names - and I could have
seen this from the third paragraph in Dag's reply above, sorry for asking
unnecessary questions.
After having applied the changes described the server now starts cleanly using
the custom policy file and LDAP authorization is working fine!
Unfortunately this is not the case when trying to shutdown the sever in a
second terminal session opened on the same machine and just replacing
../derbyrun.jar server start by ../derbyrun.jar server shutdown. Here is the
shutdown attempt fails with the following exception and the server keeps
running:
