Hi Mike,

Yes, I think that your fix for DERBY-5494 should be pursued independently of 
the patch in this issue. I believe that your fix will make nested transactions 
behave in a way which is less surprising. Am I right that your fix will address 
the correctness problem with identity columns? If so, that is an extra reason 
to pursue your fix independently, since this issue does not touch the identity 
logic. Thanks.
