Try timestamp() builtin function, like timestamp('1992-01-01 12:30:30'). Check out reference manual for some documentation: http://db.apache.org/derby/docs/10.1/ref/rreftimestampfunc.html 10.0 manual had some issues here. Hopefully 10.1 corrected these problems and accurately document the feature. ;-) Satheesh so any other format like mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss for example will not be inserted right ??? or is it a way to avoid this problem ?
