I agree, that having system based icon set only for linux will be too much effort not worth the result.
We should settle for 1 universal set of icons and maybe later on have support for theme extensions. (Something similar to Personas is firefox). Also given the fact that in Citrus UI proposed designs, the floatbar color is black, i doubt system icon sets will look good on it. Mono / bi- chrome icons is the way to go.
