That way you could select between mm/dd/yy to dd/mm/yy or others.
This way we are applying the concept of Philippe that you could
change a Style not having to go to a preference menu item. On the
other hand if one changes it here the system would set it as default
this preference.
Please compare the two.
Hmm... That's precisely a case where I'd like to see a preference
rather than clutter the UI with some systematic choice (with the
afferent risk of choosing the wrong format sometimes).
I think that "mm/dd/yy vs dd/mm/yy" should ideally be a system wide
setting (tied to locale) and honored by Chandler. This is one of the
thing that PyICU is providing us with. We implemented it in as much
places as we could in 0.6 but not everywhere (yet).
I agree with Philippe. Why would you have a drop-down cluttering the UI
when it's the kind of operation that's done once when the application is
installed (at worst, if the system-wide prefs are incorrect) and never
again?
Even more importantly, the established convention (and a perfectly
natural assumption) is that the dropdown indicator for mm/dd/yy would
allow user to select the event's date from a calendar dropdown, not to
set an application-wide preference.
