Nope, not missing anything.

As discussed on the list here: http://lists.osafoundation.org/ pipermail/design/2006-June/004818.html

The Dashboard Collection in the Calendar App is not meant to be a Calendar per se, but more of a holding /processing area for invitations. Since there is no 'in-line accept/decline' workflow for scheduling in Preview, users will need to manually add events to their personal calendars via Drag and Drop.

The unfortunate side effect of this is that even events you add yourself in the Dashboard collection will not appear on any of your calendars until you manually drag it to an user-defined collection. (This is another reason why we may want to move away from encouraging users to 'sit in' the Dashboard collection, but I will save that for a separate thread.)

Yeap, the problem with this "View" feature is that, although I understand the concept and it "makes sense", there are quite a bit of "gotchas", especially with recurring events. I sort of remember that when we discussed this way back when we agreed that the right way of doing this was to have a small tool bar in the summary table zone.

One thing however that still confuses me with *not* having these view is that, if I create an event (or several events) in the Dashboard, there's no "natural" way of getting it to display in a calendar View. Am I missing something?
