Public bug reported: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/30794
Affects: gnome-cups-manager (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: When I go to System->Administration->Printing, then try to add my printer, I can't see it, it's not detected. However it used to be detected perfectly (at least Warty and Hoary did, not 100% sure about Breezy). If I select the printer manually from the list, it works, though I am presented with no less than 4 different drivers and have no clue what to choose ! When I look at the kernel log in /var/log/dmesg, I can see that the printer has been perfectly detected at boot: [4294702.734000] parport: PnPBIOS parport detected. [4294702.735000] parport0: PC-style at 0x378, irq 7 [PCSPP,TRISTATE] [4294702.742000] parport0: Printer, Hewlett-Packard HP LaserJet 6P ...so I assumed it must be CUPS at fault (not knowing any better) ? -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
