everything which is translated. Just to make sure I don't take you guys
down the wrong road. I installed ubuntu 7.10 & then xubuntu 7.10 on top
of it. AFAIK Both use GDM for login, the only difference is the login
screen (graphical wise) otherwise its the same thing. Even doing

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ps -A | grep gdm
 4677 ?        00:00:00 gdm
 4678 ?        00:00:00 gdm

so its definitely gdm which I am using. This is explicity to do with
using English language (making it System default) , it doesn't stick.
After rebooting, the whole login screen , everything which has been
translated into hindi is using hindi. If I use GNOME then large parts of
it are translated and hence it shows hindi. Doing a quick locale shows
me :-

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ locale
LANG=hi_IN.UTF-8
LANGUAGE=hi_IN.UTF-8
LC_CTYPE="hi_IN.UTF-8"
LC_NUMERIC="hi_IN.UTF-8"
LC_TIME="hi_IN.UTF-8"
LC_COLLATE="hi_IN.UTF-8"
LC_MONETARY="hi_IN.UTF-8"
LC_MESSAGES="hi_IN.UTF-8"
LC_PAPER="hi_IN.UTF-8"
LC_NAME="hi_IN.UTF-8"
LC_ADDRESS="hi_IN.UTF-8"
LC_TELEPHONE="hi_IN.UTF-8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="hi_IN.UTF-8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="hi_IN.UTF-8"
LC_ALL=

If I want to change to English, at each reboot I have (emphasis on have)
to say I want to use English & not hindi . Making it System default
doesn't do anything.

GDM package version is 2.19.3-0ubuntu on gutsy gibbon 7.10 tribe 2.
Please lemme know if any more info. is needed.
