Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

In order for GNU/Linux to make effective use of vfat partitions, which
are a critical componant of boot environments shared with windows,
Nautilus needs to be able to parse/follow windows-style file/directory
links. Secondary to this RFE nautilus should also be able to create .Ink
on vfat partitions and effortlessly link to files on vfat partitions
from other file systems.

The current message on Ubuntu 7.10 (Sept. 2nd) is:

"filename.lnk" cannot be opened
No application suitable for automatic installation is available for handling
this kind of file.

** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
