If you mean before hald is killed (when I can't see the CD icon on the desktop), the answer is no. It's like if there was no CD at all in the tray. After I kill / restart hald, when I insert the CD, Nautilus open its window so I guess I can list its content from the commad line (although I haven't checked, but I don't see why I couldn't). I'll confirm this as soon as possible.
