This bug happens because the ftp ls output is incorrectly parsed in the 
gnome_vfs_parse_ls_lga function.
The attached patch solves the bug.
The symlink target was also incorrectly parsed if there were space in it. 
This patch also solves this bug.

I put updated gnomevfs package with the patch applied in my PPA archive:
