I also have this bug. I cannot play audio or video files; I have tried many formats (MP3, FLAC, MOV, AVI, etc).
I am using Ubuntu 7.10 (fresh install), totem-xine, and the Ubuntu- supplied fglrx driver (Radeon X1600).
