Clean install of Gutsy 7.10 on a ThinkPad T60 with ATI card. Using the realtime
kernel (Ubuntu Studio).
At some point I installed Compiz, then removed it, but I don't know if it's
related.

Anyway, maybe 1 out of 5 logins, I get this error message:

####################################
There was an error starting the Gnome Settings Daemon.
Some things, such as themes, sounds, or background settings may not work
correctly.
The last error message was:
Failed to connect to socket /tmp/dbus-IKulmccHNE: Connection refused
GNOME will still try to restart the Settings Daemon next time you log in.
####################################

The theme looks bad, the fonts are too big, some applets are missing.
If I logout, then log back in, it's usually fixed.
Also see attached screenshot of the error message.
