I have the same issue when using a brand new 8GB iPod. If I disable the iPod plugin in Rhythmbox then the issue goes away. Plugging in the device with this plugin enabled also crashes any open Rhythmbox windows. If Rhythmbox and Amarok use the same plugin to talk to iPods maybe this is the source?
