I could not get an screenshot while pressing the power down button, but I've 
managed to get one with VMWare that clearly shows this behavior.
On my desktop computer it is not that bad, but on a laptop I have is even worse 
than in the attached screenshot. I think how bad you see it depends on which is 
your screen size, but I am not sure about it.

I used Ubuntu 8.04 Alpha 4 (live cd), but it happens the same to me
since Ubuntu changed the default shutdown window from Gnome, in both
live session or installed. I can reproduce this, with different but
similar results in multiple computers and Ubuntu releases.
