Hi,
no need to thanks.
It took me some time but I could reproduce it with a new user.
Steps:

   1. Be sure that /desktop/gnome/cile_views/show_hidden_files/ it has
   "true" as value.
      1. Open gconf-editor
      2. Navigate there
      3. Cross the option
      2. Create an empty file in Desktop
   3. Double click it to open it with GEDIT (e.g.)
   4. Go to File/Open
   5. Navigate to $HOME folder, you should see both, hidden and normal
   files
   6. Right click, to unmark "show hidden files"
      - It hides normal files
   7. Do the right click thing again
      - It duplicates the list of hidden, not showing normal files.
   8. It get fixed if program is launched with hidden files "hidden"

Let me know if you could reproduce it.
Regards and thanks to you and the team.
