Personally, I'm quite sure it is a gThumb issue. gThumb shows the model of the camera correctly, and even imports the thumbnails from the camera correctly beneath this weird error dialog. This weird dialog appears when there is camera and even when there is none, it's some sort of gThumb bug. Also, earlier releases were OK.
