Changing display to anything better than 800x600 with 8-bit color prevented X from starting. Otherwise system was usable, but after dist-upgrade things got really messed up. I installed this 8.04 to check if my USB WLAN would work with 2.6.24 kernel. That did work without any extra fiddling after I turned on my wireless access point. Now it seems I have to install again, can't do nothing now because can not login to XUbuntu. Starting with 2.6.24-11 kernel I get: init: tty1 main process (4229) terminated with status 11 init: tty1 main process ended, respawning when trying to log in from console. -- Greeter appears to be crashing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/201701 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
