I have used the suspend feature of the Gutsy Live CD over the course of several days during a hard drive failure. I was mostly using the Live CD as a way just to boot up and ssh somewhere else to get work done, but it was useful to suspend rather than have to wait for the several minutes it takes to boot the thing after wanting to leave it cool for a while.
