I can also reproduce this bug on Hardy Beta. The first time gdmsetup is started after a fresh installation, the computer shows a bunch of identical errors (like described previously), the hard drive is repetitively spinning and gdmsetup is still not started after 3 minutes waiting. This only happens the first time gdmsetup is started on the computer, once the computer rebooted and that you try to open gdmsetup again, it will now open correctly but still shows the same errors on terminal. I reproduced this problem at least three time with different alpha and with the actual beta, always after a clean install.
According to the fact that this bug cause gdmsetup/libgnomeui to spin the hard drive apparently indefinitively and that gdmsetup does not open the first time, I raise the importance to medium.
