I am also unable to install Ubuntu 8.04 Beta AMD64 on the Dell Latitude
D630 because of this issue. The i386 version of 8.04 Beta does not have
this issue and I can boot the live cd with ease. My guess (with limited
knowledge) is that there are two problems here.

1. The auto detection of the graphics card and LCD is failing, in this case
the laptop has a "nVidia Corporation Quadro NVS 135M"
2. The live cd is not handling the "low graphics" dialog properly.

So I would guess that the graphics detection problem is due to the AMD64
version of the driver, and the live cd "low graphics" problem may well
occur in both i386 and AMD64 versions. I will try and find a way of
forcing the "low res" dialog on the i386 version to prove that theory.
