There is no evidence of a software problem here ... your network doesn't change configuration and in your "gaim doesn't work" example the card shows to be both sending and receiving packets.
Please note that dns-nameservers is NOT a valid /etc/network/interfaces line (at least, not that I'm aware of). If you edit /etc/resolv.conf and add nameserver lines for both 195.54.122.200 and 195.54.122.204 does the problem go away? This could be a problem with your locally running nameserver, that is started at rc2 so may not be running early on in the login. ** Changed in: sysvinit initscripts (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: sysvinit => gaim Binarypackagename: initscripts => None Status: Needs Info => Rejected ** Changed in: gaim (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: gaim => bind9 -- Network not up in time, gaim fails https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/33473 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
