Is this still a problem for you? There appear to be several reports of acpi_fakekey not working correctly anymore. Therefore I've created bug 217504 about this, but your issue seems a bit different, because it works in general, but then stops. Therefore I'm not marking it as duplicate, but maybe this gives some clue. Thank you.
