I can repro this with no problem.

DOES:

0) From Main Menu, choose Places / Connect to Server...
1) In Connect to Server dialog, choose Windows Share from Service type droplist
2) Fill in relevant Server, Share, User Name and Domain Name information.
3) Choose Connect

--Observe error message generated: "Can't display location "smb://main/rich/
The specified location is not mounted."
--Observe two mount icons created on the Desktop (or from Nautilus).

4) Restart

--Observe that mount points have been removed.

SHOULD:

--Do as in prior Ubuntu releases: no error message generated; only a
single mount icon created; mount points persist across sessions.

This is a clean install of Hardy Heron.
