But this is the state of my desktop at the moment: 1) I log in and the desktop comes up with standard icons. 2) I check to see if things have become better by clicking around on the desktop. Sometimes things work, sometimes they don't. When they don't I get selected areas where I have selected the desktop. 3) Sometimes I can't choose the icons, menus or anything. When that happens I right click and I get the pop up menu. Then things are back to "normal". 4) This also affects the fact that when moving windows they go into maximize state first before they are moved. This is what happens: 4a) Grabbing the title bar by left clicking it. 4b) While "holding" the title bar I move the mouse pointer. 4c) The window maximizes. 4d) The window goes back to same size as it had before it became maximized 4e) The window is moved / moving.
5) Today I can sense that the mouse is to picky. It thinks I am double clicking everything... So for me this seems like has something to do with a) Nautilus or b) X and some configuration settings related to latest versino of X. This did not happen in Ubuntu 7.10.
