Have you tested it? It actually crashes silently now (no apport report
popping up).

1. Right-click in terminal -> edit current profile
2. Tab "colors"
3. Built-in scheme: custom (Text: #D8D8D8 Background: #000000)
4. Change scheme to any, i.e. Green on Black

It doesn't crash always, but after it crashes it looks like to act
normally (no crash, colour scheme successfully changed)

$ dmesg
