Public bug reported: Affects: gnome-cups-manager (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed
Description: I am running an up-to-date version of Dapper (as of April 16, 2006) on a Dell Inspiron 4150 notebook. No local printers are hooked to the notebook. I did install two smb printers with previous versions of Dapper. The network is a small office network (Windows network peer-to- peer, no domain controller, 4 hosts). I was trying to install another printer on a Windows box via smb. After I did select "Windows Printer (SMB)" in step 1 of the "Add a printer" assistant, a dialogue box pops up saying "Authentication Required" Identity and Password for AVIGATO Username: <populated with my local login name> Password: ... AVIGATO is the workgroup name containing the 4 hosts on the Windows network. There is no authentication setup for the workgroup, so this box shouldn't come up at all. When pressing "connect" in the dialogue box, the assistant aborts with the message "The Application gnome-cups-add has quit unexpectedly." -- [Dapper] gnome-cups-manager aborts when adding a smb printer https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/39749 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
