I have been having the same problem. Anything I do in regard to sending mail through my exchange account ( send, reply, or forward) it hangs just after the mail entry/edit screen appears. I followed the instructions and ran strace attaching it to the running evolution process and then tried to send an email from my exchange account which is one of the actions that causes it to hang. It did not hang as long as I had strace attached to the evolution pid. I could send, replay, or forward and it worked just fine. As soon as I stopped evolution and then reran without strace, it hangs again. Very interesting.
