upstream has the following comment:

"OK, my fault for reading too quickly and missing section 5.1 of RFC
2047.

| Ordinary ASCII text and 'encoded-word's may appear together in the
| same header field.  However, an 'encoded-word' that appears in a
| header field defined as '*text' MUST be separated from any adjacent
| 'encoded-word' or 'text' by 'linear-white-space'.

So, my question is: Should Evolution really strictly adhere to the RFC here
(even when just displaying others' messages), or could it more generously
ignore this rather little violation of the RFC (as most(?) other mail clients
do)? I understand, of course, that this is a matter of design/philosophy."
