** Changed in: xkeyboard-config (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Ubuntu Desktop Bugs (desktop-bugs)
** Description changed: Binary package hint: xkeyboard-config I set up the Gnome keyboard applet with two layouts - United Kingdom (GBr) and Malta (Mlt), with GBr as default. Initially this works fine, but after I reboot, if I switch to the Maltese keyboard layout via the applet, the keyboard generates all weird characters. I discovered that the characters being generated are as if the "third - level modifier" is on - but I have no third level modifier key defined - in the options. If I remove the Maltese layout and re-add it, it works - ok again until the next reboot. Also, if I use the command "setxkbmap - mt" it also works correctly... but then the keyboard applet freaks out - and refuses to switch layouts after that. + level modifier" is on - but I had no third level modifier key defined in + the options.
