To produce: 1. Launch gedit. 2. Open an existing text file. 3. Modify text file. 4. Click save.
A yellow alert pops up at the top saying: Could not create a temporary backup file while saving /path/to/file.txt gedit could not backup the old copy of the file before saving the new one. You can ignore this warning and save the file anyway, but if an error occurs while saving, you could lose the old copy of the file. Save anyway? It does this even when backups are turned off in preferences. Launching from terminal produces no output. This happens regardless of how gedit is launched, or how the file is opened, or which file is opened, or what is modified, or how I tell it to save. One file, for instance, is owned by me & is in my home directory, which has the following perms: drwxr----- 236 tanath tanath 12288 2008-07-23 07:51 tanath/ After I have told it to save anyway, it no longer occurs while that file is loaded. -- Gedit complains about being unable to make temp backups when saving https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/251083 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gedit in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
