I do not believe that this is a duplicate of bug#238668 . Perhaps my use of the word trashes misled you . I am not reporting a memory leak or any thing about trash . What I am reporting is that using sudo , GKSUDO nautilus to copy files or running file-roller with sudo ,GKSUDO often results in the permissions of the root partition ( / ) being alterd to 700 causing the system not to boot all the way to GDM.
