This can easily be done in intrepid! In intrepid, the Thinkpad Forward/Backward Keys correctly emit XF86Back and XF86Forward events, which can be mapped on the Previous/Next Page menu items by pointing at the menu entry (without selecting it) and then pressing the thinkpad forward/backward key
