Well for most users the way they will arrive at any of the mounted
volumes is through computer:///. So it is very unnatural to get to a
different place if you press the up button from there. In principle most
users shouldn't be seeing /media at anytime, unless they choose to do
so.

That said, I can imagine this could be a little problematic in those
cases where you arrive through /media, although this is the less common
case here. Perhaps nautilus could remember that you arrived through
computer:/// somehow and set the up button functionality accordingly?
