Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-applets

When I plug in my laptop, the battery icon in the systray remains on the
unplugged status, as the screenshot demonstrates. I expected the plugged-in
icon to appear. The tooltip says:
"Computer is running is running on AC power.
Laptop battery discharging (9.7%)
Battery discharge time is currently unknown"
(Notice the contradiction?)
When I plug in my laptop, the icon is as expected, and the tooltip says:
"Computer is running on battery power.
Laptop battery 5 minutes remaining (9.7%)"

I have never experienced this on Hardy Heron or Gutsy Gibbon using this
same laptop.

Changing icon theme does not fix this bug.
