Having had a look at the upstream bug, I agree with the idea of consistency 
between the different methods (Places menu, GtkFileSelector, computer:/// 
location and Places sidebar) but I think the current implementation has only 
achieved half of that.

Why not apply the idea of consistency all the way through and make the Places 
menu, the GtkFileSelector, computer:/// and the Places sidebar have all the 
same behaviour and show only mounted volumes? 

Why is there a need to show unmounted volumes, anyway? The first thing a new 
user will do is click on the unmounted volume and get a cryptic "Unable to 
mount the selected volume" error message and think there is something wrong.

And as I said before, I think that the behaviour of Nautilus 2.12.1 (i.e. in 
Breezy) fitted more to GNOME's idea of not showing unnecessary or potentially 
confusing information or properties to the user.
