You have been subscribed to a public bug: I installed Hardy beta with all partitions except /boot encrypted using manual partitioning in the alternate CD installer. After installation, Nautilus fails to mount Windows shares (while Gutsy on my laptop continues to mount the same Windows shares with no errors).
The dmesg log file shows errors like this: [ 86.104573] CIFS VFS: Error connecting to IPv4 socket. Aborting operation [ 86.104620] CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -101 [ 86.112047] CIFS VFS: Error connecting to IPv4 socket. Aborting operation [ 86.112094] CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -101 I'm seeing these on screen message when I shut down or reboot: CIFS VFS: server not responding CIFS VFS: no response for cmd 50 mid xxx where xxx is some digit such as (584) the last time and there are a few more errors on screen during shutdown. (where can I find them in a log file?) If I mount a Windows share using the same command in /etc/fstab that I use successfully in Gutsy, I can read the shares but I cannot save documents created with gedit (the only test I've tried so far) to those shares. I use a command like this: //192.168.100.103/Shared /media/Shared smbfs uid=myuser,gid=myuser,credentials=/root/.credentials,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777 0 0 The above longer works on Hardy (and yes, I installed smbfs). All in all, Hardy is failing at all my attempts to mount Windows shares correctly. It could be my errors, but given that I can make all this work in Gutsy, I'm thinking this may be a bug (or bugs) in Hardy. ** Affects: gvfs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Hardy CIFS VFS errors when local file system is encrypted https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/207517 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
