I've just experienced something similar. I'm using the Remote Desktop
Viewer to access a windows PC from an Ubuntu 8.10 w Gnome desktop.
First, I am not able to see the mouse cursor in the remote computer,
then when I switch back to my desktop the mouse cursor moves, but the
buttons are all dead.
In my case the screensaver seems unrelated. That is, the dead mouse
button problem starts as soon as I try to transition back to Gnome.
After reading the thread I'm not sure what the missing information is
that you need. Please let me know and I'd be happy to provide it.
